Two of my favourite things

Design*Sponge (one of the best interior design blogs out there) + The Cross (hands down my favourite decor store in Vancouver, which is also where I found my beautiful mirror) = a very interesting interview.

Travelin’ To-orist

Guest posts are the best posts (especially when they’re about romance, recycling and Romanelli hats). This one is from my sister-in-law Jaclyn.

I’ll be in London this June and plan to scour the streets for Kenyan-born Brian Gathii’s To-orist line filled with safari-inspired streetwear.

Think: Prince meets Kanye meets… King Tut?

With bold colours and edgy appliques each piece is perfectly prismatic.

Want to contribute to the Anthology? (Hooray! I’ve been hoping you would.) Send me a note at theanthology@live.com. Thanks again Jac!

At work, it’s a shirt

On the beach in Barcelona, it’s a dress. I love a good shirt/dress. So versatile.

And then there’s my amethyst cuff, which is always an amethyst cuff.

Forget diamonds, I think coloured stones are a girl’s best friend.

A true snow baby

whistler puppy

If you asked Leroy, he’d probably tell you Whistler is his new favourite place.

Much of it, like Lost Lake, is still covered in snow. And so, so beautiful.

He spent forever running and digging and having the time of his life. Right up until a cranky old corgie ruined his fun.

What is it about the snow that’s just so, so much fun?

When you finish an exam, there’s only one thing to do

Throw a party with lots of wine and lots of cheese.

peach tank top

Which is exactly what my friend Briony (the world’s hottest accountant) did.

She looked so cute in her thrifted tank top and Camper shoes.

Don’t you think?

So much cooler than a seating chart

Attended a wedding at the beautiful Squamish Lil’wat Cultural Centre in Whistler yesterday. Loved everything from the mini cheesecakes to the bride’s red ballet flats, but especially loved that they used Ukrainian eggs to let guests know their table number.

Each hand-painted egg had a tag with a guest’s name and table number on it. If I had thought of something like that, I would have made my little Ukrainian mama so proud.

Leroy also loved them. Little thief.

Happy Easter! And congratulations again, Kirstin and David.

Two Mikes. Two shirts.

Both, interestingly enough, with some bright blue and neon orange.

custom shirt

The first is by the stylish Mike Lyall who silkscreened 6 0h 4 on it. (604 is Vancouver’s area code. 6 0h 4 just makes me laugh).

The second is by Michael Doehle (also the man behind this shirt) who collaborated with Jamie Bizness on this one-of-a-kind piece.

He gave it to our pal Dana as a parting gift (thanks for the photos Dana).

Do you know any other Mikes who could whip up some custom shirts? I want to expand my collection.

I’m heading to Whistler for a wedding on the mountainside. What will you be doing? Going for a chic bike ride?

Why Ry guy is a fly guy

First, there’s his moustache, which he’s been rocking since Movember

ryan bolo tie

Then there’s his bolo tie, which is tied with his bow tie for first place in the neckwear category.

And then there’s his bike. Which is just rad.

Finally: his hair. Which is well on its way to being Morrissey hair.

Ladies and gentlemen, I rest my case.

Born again gorgeous

This guest post is courtesy of Ashley, one of my very best friends in the whole wide  world.

In the beginning, there was the scarf. A gorgeous vintage scarf. And now it has become these amazing shoes.

Te Cesan shoes

Purchased at Te Casan in NYC (RIP), the broadway-dancer-wannabe-turned-sales-associate only had to utter the words “one of a kind” and I was sold.

Of course, it didn’t hurt that the proceeds from the scarf benefitted Oxfam, and that the line was designed specifically for Te Casan.
